// If your child is interested in using this, I think you should let them, but ONLY after you coach them in internet safety.
Make sure they know what sort of things to look out for.
I don't think that this app is as bad as what the other parents are saying, I use this app myself and I love it.
There are some communities that children shouldn't be in, but I think it should be fine as long as you monitor what communities your kids are in from time to time. If your kid likes metal that's great BUT don't let him/her be on Metal Amino.
AMINO itself can include chats about pokemon but then members send you pornographic images (Seriously!? I found Amino on daughter's phone when doing a check.
), Everything bad about social medias can be found on metal amino & it's much more than on facebook, twitter etc. I was not happy with a few of the communities she was following.
// One final warning- at the time of this writing, Amino Apps has recently introduced voice and video chat features. She feels that she NEEDS to be in this app and can't be with out it. Bullying, sexual content and the fact that you don't truly know the ages of the others you speak to in this app!! (Edit: I have added slashes between paragraphs, because the site does not support page breaks. After removing the app she finds ways to get back on secretly. Sorry about the wall of text, but I really believe the information I wrote is valuable.)// I see a lot of reviews of this app that seem very shocked and reactionary to me, and I would like to provide some clear, and hopefully helpful information. It's sad that I have to monitor my 10yr olds phone on a nightly basis because of apps like this one!!This app is horrible, my child started enjoying stories and added their own stories to begin with but it didn't take long for the private chats to start!I do not feel that some of these communities are safe or appropriate for a young teens. Some of these communities can include gender and sexuality, self harm, creepypasta, slenderman, says not to get this app if your younger than eighteen so you get anyway its not the apps fault its like saying here child have this beer even though your to younger. ohhh this beer is bad for you lets go tell the beer company this!!!It's full of bullies (who even bully autists), they respond with lenny faces & kys (Kill yourself) but they do much more terrible things. The curators/leaders are bullies and the weird thing was that people love those bullies! Many of the communities are user-moderated, run by people with little moderation experience who are often minors themselves.// I don't think the app is inherently bad for kids- it serves as a way for people of a variety of age groups to discuss their interests with like-minded people.
